"M-Mush was there, so..." she started, now feeling quite ashamed that she hadn't told Macbeth earlier. Although, she still didn't see how her brother had anything to do with this. "I'll talk to Risk when I see him."

"I really gotta meet this famous Mush," Macbeth said dryly. "What's he like, anyway? I ain't ever given you a chance to ramble on about him." She already secretly hated the guy for helping Ershey put herself in danger, but she didn't mention that; she wanted to show that things were still okay between them.

"You haven't seen him around?" she asked curiously. She was sure that Mush was always running around somewhere. "Well, he's wonderful... he was there for everything and all the drama with the cop and Risk, so... Beth, he didn't run away and that's enough for me."
((Gnight! <3))

"I live under a rock, praying no one ever bothers me," Macbeth reminded her with a smirk. She finished feeding and cleaning up Jo, and finally thought to take the last slice of bread for herself, wolfing it down. Dinner. Yum.

"Well, when you do meet him, will you be nice to him for me?" smiled Ershey hopefully. "Other than you and Risk, I really care a lot about him."

"I'll be civil," Macbeth promised. "Y'know, make small talk. Bond over how great we think you are. I might even smile once or twice." Jo batted her on the arm as if she doubted her aunt's ability to perform this last feat.

"That's when you know you're trying hard," teased Ershey, smirking at Macbeth.

Beth rolled her eyes and hesitated a moment, wiping crumbs from her face. "So I got Risk talking about your fam'ly a little."

"You did?" said Ershey in surprise, looking at Macbeth. She hardly talked to Macbeth about her family, let alone anyone else. Maybe Macbeth and Risk was closer than she really thought they were...

She nodded. "He was kinda cagey about your dad...like he couldn't make up his mind whether he was a decent guy or a dirty rotten sod." She took one of Jo's little hands and wiggled her fingers absently, making her giggle. "I don't mean to bring back memories, Ersh, I just...I'm trying to figure that kid out. I already know who you are, 'cause you've always been damn near saintly to me, but your brother's more of a puzzle."

"That's cause he went through a lot more than I did," frowned Ershey. "Dad was... a handful when he wanted to be but Risk looked up to him, so..."

"Gotcha," Macbeth said thoughtfully. She honestly wasn't sure why she cared. She wasn't the type to take an interest in people and hound them about their pasts. "Well, we've had dinner, such as it was. Wanna help me get Miss Josephine settled into the sick room?"

"Of course," smiled Ershey as she put away the jam and bread. "Just let me know if you need someone to watch her, alright?"

She nodded and sighed. "I don't wanna put this all on you, though. I mean, I know you love Jo, but you never asked for someone to drop a baby into your life. And if I'm gonna be working enough to support us both...well, I might actually have to make some more friends." She shuddered as if the thought were unimaginably painful, and finally gathered Jo into her arms, leading the way to the sick room.

"You have enough friends," chuckled Ershey, following Macbeth and opening the door for her to the sick room. "'Sides, you know that Alec and I will help out any way we can. You're like family. Well, to me, at least."
